Pembrokeshire's Heritage Coast

Eden House is ideally situated for exploring the North Pembrokeshire coastline, the Pembrokeshire National Park (the only one of its kind in the UK), Bluestone Country, the Preseli Mountains and the Gwaun and Teifi Valleys. These all provide excellent opportunities for walking, cycling, horse-riding, bird watching, fishing and sailing.
Nearby Cardigan is a busy market town , where the past and the present meet in harmony. although Cardigan possesses all the facilities of a modern town, its mediaeval castle, narrow streets and natural beauty embodies the essence of the magic that makes West Wales one of Britain’s most popular holiday destinations.

Only 15 minutes drive along the coast lies the ancient township of Newport which has charming narrow streets, a wonderful beach and a mixture of modern restaurants and quaint cafes and pubs. Newport stands with its back to Carn Ingi Mountain and is surrounded by diverse and beautiful landscapes.

Preseli Bluestone

Pentre Ifan ancient burial chamber
According to local Welsh tradition, the term ‘Bluestone’ refers to a stone known to geologists as ‘Spotted Dolerite’ and occurs in only one place in the entire world – the Preseli Mountains. When cut in any direction, Bluestone will display a pattern that bears a remarkable resemblance to the cosmos. for this reason it is considered by many to be sacred or magic, probably the reason why the ancient people of Britain chose to use it for Stonehenge.
